Feeling Relieved and Grateful

Today was scary. I didn't feel the baby move for several hours this morning and normally the little bambino is quite active from the moment I get out of bed. I was terrified. After a doctor visit, a non-stress test, and a biophysical profile ultrasound I can breathe a sigh of relief. The baby is just fine. Maybe just running out of room in there?! And the baby is moving quite a bit this evening. Whew. And I also now have the cutest ultrasound picture of my baby's face.

Day 86: I snapped this photo with my cell phone as I was lying in the nurse treatment area of my clinic getting my non-stress test. Not an exciting photo by any means, but it reminds me of today.

Who needs TV when you can just look out the window?

Day 83: The turkeys returned, and multiplied. This time there were two big toms and about 15 or so females running through the yard! The kids have really been enjoying them.

Day 84: During dinner Julian hopped off his chair and opened the large kitchen drawer. He pulled out his Easter mat from Grandma Ruth and put it under his plate and sat back down. He got Vincent's, too. He announced that it's almost Easter so they should be using their mats. I thought it was funny how he just thought of them out of the blue.

Day 85: This morning was garbage day, always an exciting event around here. After returning home from dropping Julian off at school Vincent and I sat on the front couch to watch the garbage trucks on our street. It's so cute how the ordinary things in life can be so exciting to a preschooler. Just pass the popcorn, please.

Weekend and Power Outage

Here are my daily photos from the weekend and today. I actually hadn't taken a photo yet today and just had the perfect opportunity when our power went out. The only light is coming from the laptop screen!

Day 80: Before bed, Vincent made towers out of his and Julian's shoes by the front door. Too funny!

Day 81: Julian took this photo of his flying saucer. A fun Sunday project, don't you think?

Day 82: Power outage!

Portrait of a Kindergartener

Day 79: Today there was no school for Julian because of parent/teacher conferences. His teacher gave us a great report and sent me home with a big pile of things he's done in school this semester. Here's Julian (still in his jammies!) looking through all the stuff and holding up a self-portrait he drew in school. So cute! (He also still has remnants of his tomato soup lunch and chocolate sauce from his ice cream treat around his mouth in this picture. Hee hee!)

Final X-Ray

Day 78: Today I took little Vincent to the "hand doctor" for his follow-up visit and x-ray. It's now been exactly three weeks since he broke the tip of his right thumb. He's healing well. Now if we can just get him to use his right hand -- he's still very overprotective of it, even though it doesn't appear to hurt him.

Office View

Day 77: Today's picture isn't too exciting, but daily life isn't always glamorous, is it? Mark emailed me a picture he took with his iphone of the view out his office window. (The black trapezoid in the lower right corner is his new laptop sitting on his desk...) Today was day three of his new job so we're all getting into the swing of the new schedule.

Turkeys!

(No, I'm not referring to the kids!)

This is what the kids and I saw when we opened the kitchen blinds this morning at breakfast: Wild Turkeys!!! I wonder if they're wearing green for St. Patty's Day -- I can't tell. ;-)

The funniest part is that Vincent, who's not quite three, keeps telling Daddy he saw a peacock in the yard. (The big male turkey kept puffing out his feathers and strutting his stuff, making himself look big like a peacock. You can click on the photo to see a larger version.)

Oh What a Beautiful Day!

Day 75: Today was gorgeous -- in the 60's! The boys played outside for an hour before dinner and had a blast. I enjoyed the fresh air and watching them play.

New Office, Mischievous Preschooler, & Yummy Breakfast!

Day 72: Mark starts his new job tomorrow morning. On Friday his buddy sent him this photo of his new "cubby" office, complete with window, name plate, and new computers. I had to use it for my picture of the day on Friday!

Day 73: In honor of Mark's new job, he and I went out on a "date" on this warm day. We saw a movie and had a very nice dinner. Later that evening I noticed this nice chalk drawing on my kitchen wall, complete with fingerprints. Nice. Luckily it wiped right off. Vincent is very mischievous!

Day 74: This morning I made super yummy vegetarian "eggs benedict" for breakfast and had it with my coffee and orange juice. It was delicious! On a whole wheat toasted english muffin I layered thin slices of tomato, hard boiled egg, sautéd orange bell pepper and spinach, and smothered it with hollandaise sauce (made from a dry packet mix). Super yummy on a Sunday morning!

Just Life

Day 70: It was my mom's birthday yesterday so Vincent and I went to Panera after preschool to pick up lunch to bring home so she could join us. While waiting for our order, Vincent threw up on both of us, right in the restaurant. I documented this lovely moment with a photo of my puke-stained shoes. Nice, I know. But that's life! That explains why he wouldn't touch his own lunch at school! (He's been fine ever since then.)

Day 71: Mark was gone today in all day meetings so I was busy all day with the kids and driving to and from school. I snapped a picture of the kids in the back seat as we arrived home after school. They're all bundled up because it's still freezing outside. I can't wait for the warmth to return this weekend!

My Little Reader

Day 69 (Photo 1): Julian has become quite the reader. We now check out books from the library and he loves reading them out loud to us. It's amazing how quickly he's progressed in such a short period of time. As a parent, it's so fun to hear him reading!

Day 69 (Photo 2): Vincent saw Daddy taking the above picture and wanted to get in on the action, too! Silly goof.

A Good Day

This morning has been fun. Julian didn't have school today so while Vincent was at preschool and Mark was off working, Julian and I were able to hang out together at home, just Mommy and son. I enjoy my first-born so much just one-on-one. So we scrapbooked, built with lincoln logs, chatted, and just hung out. What could be better?

Day 68: Julian working on his personal scrapbook. I love the drawings he included!

And here are my daily pictures from Thursday through yesterday:

Day 64: My weekly pregnancy email update. I receive them every Thursday.

Day 65: Vincent playing "house" after preschool and before his nap. The couch cushion is his "door".

Day 66: Vincent brushing his teeth before bed.

Day 67: A fun Sunday morning. The boys piled the couch cushions into their playhouse, then lounged and read books together. It was very cute!

March Started With a Cold!

Here are my photos from this week so far. I started out the month with a nasty cold, which Mark caught after me, but now I feel good again. Gotta love those viruses!

Day 60 (Sunday, March 1): All I did today was doze on the couch, use the tissues a lot, and feel miserable!

Day 61: Julian's library books

Day 62: Big grocery trip!

Day 63: Right now I'm still soaking Vincent's thumb before bed and then re-bandaging and splinting his thumb. He's so good about the entire routine and now will just sit and soak his thumb without my aid. What a trooper! I think it must feel good to have the bandage off for a while. I also took a picture of Mark reading a French book to the boys before bed.
